SUE BRUCE

Chair

Sue Bruce has 30 years of experience in Senior Leadership roles. She joined Western Health in 2013 as the Director of Workforce Planning & Development. In April 2016 she was appointed to the role of Executive Director of People, Culture & Communications.

 

Western Health provides a combination of in-hospital and community-based health services in Melbourne's west. The hospital employs more than 12,500 staff, with support from more than 700 volunteers.

 

Hospitals are among the most complex of human organizations. Sue has demonstrated leadership excellence during her career, including the unprecedented period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

​Sue is highly experienced in change management, building productive teams, leadership development, strategic and workforce planning and cultural safety and well-being. She has been involved in all facets of service development, education, change initiatives and cultural transformation.

In 2018 Sue and her team won the Victorian Public Healthcare Award in the category of Improving Workforce Wellbeing and Safety for their Positive Workplace strategy called “Don’t Walk Past” which was aimed at calling out and challenging negative behaviours in the workplace.

 

Sue’s reputation comes from her strategic focus on creating value for stakeholders through driving culture and delivering for customers through digital transformation.
