Murray Smiths’ 35 years of corporate experience includes Senior Executive roles in Human Resources and line functions for international companies. His experience includes working with international organisations such as Ecolab, BHP, SC Johnson, and Kimberly-Clark.
Murray’s focus on coaching, leadership, career development and talent management has stretched across a number of global regions, with recent emphasis on Asia Pacific, USA, and Australia/New Zealand.
He has deep industry experience in Manufacturing, FMCG, Mining, Geoscience/Exploration, and Industrial Sales and Marketing. Murray’s earlier career was cross-functional with front-line managerial roles in Sales and Manufacturing.
His reputation comes from his strategic focus on creating value for shareholders through driving culture and delivering for customers through digital transformation.
Tertiary and Travel
​Murray holds formal qualifications in Adult Education (Masters); Psychology (Post Grad.); and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW.

Now Sydney-based, Murray has lived in Singapore, the UK, and the USA. He spends his free time with his wife and their three children, enjoys sports, exercise, and plays some, self admittedly, terrible golf.
Murray's last Executive role was at Ecolab, where he served two years as Vice President of Human Resources - Asia Pacific. Ecolab is a global leader in water, hygiene and antimicrobial technologies and services.
Prior to Ecolab, Murray spent 10 years in HR Executive roles with BHP and during this time he held the following positions: Vice President of Human Resources Iron Ore, Vice President of Human Resources Minerals Exploration and Vice President of Human Resources Marketing.

Murray also worked with SC Johnson for 9 years where he led the Regional Director HR function, working across 20 countries and 3000 people.
​
For the past 5 years, Murray has been self-employed running his own Executive HR Consultantancy firm.
